Issue #14: The Clutch, the Current, and the Coin

Good morning, West Siders. We're the neighbor who still has every penny in the change jar, just in case, knows the difference between a London plane and a Callery pear, and reads every Appellate Division ruling so you don't have to. PS: Today is National Donut Day. Krispy Kreme hands out a free donut (the closest brick-and-mortar is in Times Square at Broadway & 48th, but the UWS delivery is fast). Dunkin' gives one with any drink purchase. 😬 Bonus: NYC named the donut. Washington Irving wrote "dough-nut" down first in 1809, in his History of New York: "balls of sweetened dough, fried in hog's fat." We kept the name. Lost the hog's fat.

Issue #13: The Sun, the Sweep, and the Zingone Bros Cat

Good morning, West Siders. We're the neighbor who mapped every sports bar on the west side, got you a private Raphael viewing before the museum opens, and reminds you the World Cup lottery closes tomorrow. Manhattanhenge, tonight, 8:13 PM. After that, we've got ballerinas, bobbleheads, and a $10,000 lightbulb the city still hasn't screwed in. Let's go. (Westward.)

Issue #11: Gold Medals, Gold Stars, and the Sturgeon King

Good morning, West Siders. We're the neighbor who knows which restaurants the New York Times loves and which ones it ghosted. Jesse Owens's Olympic gold is at AMNH. The Knicks swept Philly. There are two comedy clubs three blocks apart running six shows each this weekend, fresh sand hitting the playgrounds, and a circus at Lincoln Center. And May is Bike Month, which on the UWS means everyone's a cyclist, a critic, or both. Scroll to the bottom for a live music hot list you can walk to. Grab your morning beverage. Let's go.

Issue #8: Seeds and a Swiss Army Knife

Good morning, West Siders. We're the neighbor who found you free wildflower seeds 🌱, a Grammy winner on 72nd Street, and the first Conservatory Garden tour of the season — there are only three, so consider this your official "don't say we didn't tell you." The Tulip Festival closes Sunday 🌷, which means by Monday you'll be lying about having gone. Anyway. Big week. Buckle up, scroll through or just click to read online — for real. P.S. Scroll down for the new section "🎶 The Set List — the best music you can walk to", every week.
